When we actually manage to dive...

Back to main land we went diving again with the local dive club/center Calypso where we got spoiled on a swanky luxurious yacht blasting russian 80s disco music - scarily addictive. You can listen to the top hits here and here.

We revisited Tri Brata and Starichkov Island although we explored different areas of the sites. The dives were still exciting: got kissed by rock greenlings (Hexagrammos lagocephalus), watched sea urchins be gobbled up by anemones and huge stonefish.

As we were missing sleeping on the sea so much, we set off for a two day trip to Бухта Пусская (Russian Bay) to dive with sealions. Departing Avacha bay was, in true Kamchatkan style, faffy. We were meant to set sail at 4pm but obviously didn't manage to set sail till 8pm but by then Avacha Bay was closed because of increased security (Prime Minister Medvedev was visiting the area) so we left at 11pm. The water was murky and incredibly swelly so, unlike us, the sealions stayed on the rock to sunbathe. The rock dropped vertically to about 20m and was really pretty: covered in colorful anemones and sponges.
