This time last year I was putting together the application for one of the SES Awards. Barbora and I had an “amazing” plan to go diving in the Russian wilderness in Kamchatka but I needed someone to support our idea. Whilst writing the application I did not think we had many chances of getting it. I was wrong and what was just a mere plan turned into a real expedition!
Thanks to the award we had a wonderful opportunity to visit and explore amazing and relatively untouched places. We had a lot of difficulties that we managed to overcome thanks to a good dose of stubbornness and ultimately enjoy the journey. However, it was more than just visiting a remote and unique place; most importantly it was an invaluable learning opportunity on leading expeditions.
You have probably seen the pictures, read the blog, heard the stories and will soon watch the film. Yet this is just part of the story. Want to hear more? Go out and make your own story, whatever it is. If you have a plan or an idea don’t be shy and apply!
I cannot be grateful enough to the Scientific Exploration Society and to all our sponsors for their donations. Special thanks to Neville
Shulman for his mentoring as well as for the financial support.
Now the SES 2016 applications are open. http://www.ses-explore.org/awards
